Speedybuys.com is a rip off and a scam

I like a few others I've seen got drawn in by a pop up on another website by offering free 100 bids for trying speedy buys auction and I too got charged 149.00 for buying 300 bids I did not want. I called speedy buys and their rep said you used 5 bids can't cancel. called my bank wells fargo and after invest they said the chargs r correct. never got the free bids either They didn't have much to bid on the website, does not post or register ur bids very fast thats's why i used 5 bids. and the bids you buy expire in 60 days don't go there I'll stick with ebay

I got more info for people who was scammed by Speedybuys.com:

1) Did Speedybuys.com give you a receipt for your purchase? If not then they violated the merchants agreement with the credit card issuers.

2) Did they provide a real street address (not email) for communications? If not then they violated the merchants agreement with the credit card issuers.

3) The signup page is legally flawed. A person CANNOT sign up for a 'site'.

4) Speedybuys has taken great effort to conceal their real location. Nowhere on their site is a physical address given. Also, their 'GoDaddy' domain registration is 'private' meaning the real owner and address is concealed. Does that inspire confidence? Let the credit card folks know about these violations. You'll have your money back quickly.

Speedy Buys IS A SCAM DONT ENTER INFO....PLEASE

I cant even remember where I got the idea to come to this site but they offered a code "Gazette100" for a free 100 bids and after I entered my information I waited for a confirmation page to make sure If I was going to be charged or not, it never appeared and went straight to the bidding section. Never did I recieve an e-mail notification or receipt so I had assumed I wasnt charged until I checked my credit card statement and I Felt SICK TO MY STOMACH. Then I tried to contact them, read their Disclaimer and realize that getting your money back was not going to happen.IT IS A SCAM no doubt, but for 149.00 you would spend more legal fees and time to retrieve it.....THEY KNOW THAT and they are going to continue to do this until the law stops them. Consumers have to report this for a change to take place.

Speedybuys.com is committing fraud. Do not give them your credit card number to sign up.

When I signed up the ask for my credit card number which I thought would be to pay for purchases I made if I won at an auction. Instead without any notice my credit card was charged 149.00. At no time during the registration did they confirm this charge or give me any sort of receipt. ***...no idea it was even happening. As soon as it posted to my credit card I disputed the charge. They gave me 100 free bids with which I won a bid. I wrote them after I figured out about the charge and told them I did not want the merchandise even if it was won with free bids. I want to remove my card number from their site but they do not allow you to change any of your personal information after signing up. They have not answered any of my emails and I have not been able to contact anyone at the company.

Speedybuy. i got ripped off too.

i also went on MSNBC and saw the ad offering 100 free bids. it was on 8/25/2010. if anyone has a copy of that ad my bank wants it. could you send it to haightbury@***.com. or, if anyone knows how i can contact msnbc. first, they didn't give me the 100 free bids. then, they charged me 149.00 for 300 bids i didn't order. when i registered, i didn't fill in the code square. they charged me 74.50 for another 300 bids, anyway. i got their phone number through the bank. when i called they said to email my complaint to them. so i sent an email. my email admin said it was undeliverable. so much money for so little fun.

The same thing exactly as you described happened to me today. I call them and of course they told me to contact by email to cancel and refund the monies.

I also say this on MSN and the article was well written on how great Speedy Buy is. After getting no where with this company, I called my credit card company to dispute the transaction.

The strange thing is the person I talked with at Speedy Buy said they charged 150.00 the web charge says 149.00 and according to my credit card company there is a 74.50 charge that is pending. As soon as the transaction post tomorrow the credit card company will dispute and hold the funds.

SpeedyBuy scam

SpeedyBuy offers 100 free bids through 9/9/10 if you sign up. You sign up and they get credit card information. You are lead to believe they need this information if you are to win an item. Instead they charge you for 300 bids $149.00 and you never see anything regarding the 100 that was suppose to be free. You are even asked to put the promo # in a blank space. I thought I missed info about $149 hidden charge but after reviewing complaints have determined it is a scam. Check following news article telling all about their company & what you need to do to sign up. http://www.memphisgazette.com/indexcar.html?t202id=586128&t202kw=168227

Earlier today I submitted my Visa Credit information (which alledgedly allowed me to participate in A SpeedyBuys auction). Unfortionatly, after reading all the negative comments on this page, I'm quite sure that I have been scammed (even though I can't prove it because I won't see my Visa statement for this date until next month).

I am a victim of Speedbuys also. Does anyone know which state they are located in?

In my research I believe they are in Santa Clara CA. If so we all need to contact the Attorney General office of that state and file a complaint.

It has been my experience that if enough people file a complaint with this companies deceiptive practices the Attorney General Office will take a look at this company. I have did this before with another company and got very positive results from the Attorney General office especially when a company is as deceiptive with charging your credit card and then it appears to me they change the web page often when you go to put your c/c number in.

I was taken too, complained to my credit card company, Spedybuys convinced them I had agreed to $149.00, and now I have to pay. Speedybuys is a scam.

Guest

I sign for this page only because it advertise FREE sign up with promotional code. There was nothing about $149.00 fee and I checked this very careful.

After I went to see what actions they have - I decided all i just garbage so I never use any of my FREE 100 bids. Only when I got my bank statement I discover the charges and immediately call them to cancel my account and get my money back.Like all of us they tell me to email my request. So far I did not have respond to 4 of my emails and they keep telling me it is impossible.I am sending them one more just to inform SCAMMERS what action I am going to take.

My bank do not want to take any action claiming what they say - that the charges are on there web page and they know about this company. So I am going to make complain to:Internet Crime ComplaintBBBCalifornia Attorney General's Office.IF any one want to join me please contact me at hpsc2@***.net so I can add your name to the complains

I got taken too. I cannot access my account. String um up I say.

I too was a victim of the Free 300 bids offer on 08/24/10 and the chat agent that asked me not to leave when signing up- no where was there any notice of the $149, until my bank alerted me to the charge. Unfortunately after the fact-found it in Section 8 of the contract!

You cannot communicate w/ these people-all emails/phone calls- same answer- trying to lure u into bidding. I did not use any of the bids, thought i was just registering for later.

I did just what i hope everyone else does- went to the ic3gov/complaint website and have a case going. Please report them

Guest

This is the email they sent to me. I don't take it. They can't charge on the credit card by the the fine print on the "Terms and Conditions"

Dear Dennis,

Thank you for your email but if you report I cannot help refund.

My position on this matter is strictly one of service. I feel that given the chance out site is something you would be very pleased with.

Again, the bid-pack sales are very important to us as this is a live auction site and bid-pack sales

and account activity fully determines how our site operates.

$75.00 will be credited back to you, inform me to do so. Along with this refund you will be allowed to keep your account and we will honor the winners guarantee!

Please take a minute to go back to the site and review the purchase information, winners guarantee, and most importantly, LIVE auctions.

Kind regards

Well, yet another person scammed by this company. I tried calling their telephone number and it repeatedly disconnected me while I was on hold to talk to them. They scammed me and my checking account out of $149 w/o my permission. They need to be shutdown immediately. Beware buyers.....before you go online to any of these companies, search here first. I have learned my lesson. Review your credit card or checking account often. There are some folks that will never know they've been dinged by this company. In my opinion, they are designed to scam innocent people.

That address is bogus. The 'suite' is merely a maildrop at a mailbox rental firm. Just do a reverse lookup on the address.

Guest

I am also filed a complaint with the BBB and I also contacted my credit card company within two hours after having signed up with SpeedyBuys.com and explained the situation to them and they still allowed the charge to go through. We need to start a petition to get the signature necessary to start a class action law suit.

And every one who has been scammed needs to write a letter to the news agency that is running the add.

Speedybuy rip off

Becareful when you sign up for speedybuy auction. The article praising it states if you sign up you get 100 free bids. In the tiny small writing at the bottom, (where you type in your visa information)...you are charged for 300 bids then you get the free 100. So before I knew what happened my account was charged $150.00. READ CAREFULLY. You do not get a refund so bid wisely as you will probably end up with NOTHING for your $150.00. I am beside myself at the deception and my own stupidity. BE SMARTER AND READ EVERYTHING!!!!!

Speedybuy scam

I'm so glad I found this site. I just called my credit card company and was told that they tried to put through $149 plus $25 for speedy bucks. I should have known better than to give out my card number.I canceld my credit card and will dispute the rest. Sites like this are terrible for consumers. You can not trust anybody anymore. Please do not use this site it is a scam. Too bad it is too late for me. Also when you try to get into the site now it blocks you. What a hassle. Thank you everyone, Patty in IL

I called my credit card company less then an hour after I signed up with "SpeedyBuys" about another problem and that's when I was told the last transaction I had was a $149.00 by Speedybuys and I was shocked. I hadn't try to bid or buy anything.

I then found this site and realized I've been taken! I had to closed my credit card and said they will fight the charges.

Meanwhile I called SpeedyBuys at 1(88*)***-**** and also emailed them to Jeffrey at support@***.com First time I used my card witout buying anything and I got charged. Just hope I don't lose that $149 and what ever else they charged.

Beware of the scams, WildBill

Beware of Giant Scan at Speedybuys.com

You will be charged $150 just to try bidding on a bunch of junk and a few large items that you WILL NOT WIN - I bid at the end of the bidding war and it would not record - I believe the winners are all fake ones of the website! I complained to them and never heard a word. Thanks FOX news!!! Then when I received the face cream (cost of $4 plus $10 shipping) it was not worth the $4, let alone $14 plus $150 for bidding. Somehow I think this website should be investigated and banned! Unfortunately, most people do not check this website before signing up.

Charged credit card without approval.

Attempted to inquire why I could not use Speedy Buys website and was told that I had not paid fees (which were not disclosed). I then directed that all records of my credit card be removed and confirmation of such and confirmation of no charges being made to my account please be Emailed to me. No confirmation has been received, however; a charge of $150.00 has subquently been made to my credit card after the representative stated that they had not charged my card any fees or provided any services. In my estimation Speedy Buys truly is a fradulent and dishonest company and should be exposed as such.
